Pop Warner Little Panthers goes National!

Your Pop Warner Little Panthers has decided the time is right to move to the Pop Warner National Presidential Model. Although the changes will be minor, it will allows team to compete in Orlando for the Pop Warner National Championship!

In 1957, the North Mecklenburg Optimist Club, a civic group of men in Charlotte dedicated to supporting youth activities, was looking for a good youth work project. It turned to the idea of the establishment of a local Pop Warner youth football program.Every year since 1957, Pop Warner football and cheerleading in the Charlotte and surrounding areas has been governed by the Mecklenburg Optimist Club. The club has continued to sponsor the program with the volunteer efforts of its members, who give their time to the administration of the program, and raise money to help defray administrative costs. Special thanks to Joe Moody (President of PWLP's) and Ron Newton (Director of PWLP's) who will step down but continue to work as advisor's for the 2015 season. Joe and Ron have been a huge reason for the success of PWLP's over the years. Mike Newell, (former President of the Lake Norman Giants) will be the new President of the PWLP's. Bryon Fields of the Coul Oak Steelers will be the new Vice President and Jeff Sullivan of the Porter Ridge Ravens will be the Football Commisioner for the new PWLP's. There will be a new board made up of one member from each Association.
The Pop Warner Little Panthers are part of the Mid South Pop Warner. Mid-South Region Pop Warner includes Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia and consists of 15 member Conferences which also seek to provide fun athletic learning opportunities for children, while emphasizing the importance of academic success.
This is an exciting time for Pop Warner in the Charlotte Region and we look forward to developing well-rounded young men and women to learn not only the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, but also the importance of education in an atmosphere conducive to developing sound character while having a great time.
