Deadline for each association to submit the 2005 – Confirmation with background Checks Affidavit to the Executive Director.

 

AUGUST:

 

 

Tue Aug 1

 

Submission of all league fees, medic fees, and security fees (payable to Mecklenburg Optimist Club), and all fees for officials (payable to Bill Freeman Sports’ Officials).

 

Deadline: Failure to submit the required fees will cause the association and its teams to be ineligible.

 

Tue Aug 1

 

Practice may begin.

 

Warning:  No player may begin practice until he has submitted all paperwork required for certification.

 

Tue/Sat Aug 1-5

3 practices only (helmets, jerseys, shorts, shoes permitted – no other football equipment permitted).  Two hour maximum practice time.

 

Sat/Sun Aug 5-6

Cheer Certification clinic

3 practices only (helmets, jerseys, shorts, shoes permitted – no other football equipment permitted).  Two hour maximum practice time.

 

Wed Aug 9

 

 

JPW, PW, JM, Midget - Meeting for all head coaches and assistant coaches (athletic directors should attend) – No football practices permitted for these divisions on this date.

Thu Aug 10

 

 

Mitey-Mites - Meeting for all head coaches and assistant coaches (athletic directors should attend) – No football practices permitted for Mitey-Mite division on this date.

Sun/Sat Aug 13-19

 

3 practices only (full pads).  Two hour maximum practice time.

Mon/Fri Aug 14-18

Paperwork Pre-certification:  Each association must hold its own pre-certification with its coordinators and head coaches/team representatives to ensure paperwork compliance.

 

Sat Aug 19

League paperwork certification.  Paperwork to be turned in for those players whose paperwork is complete.  Draft of the “Official Football Roster” is required.  Players with incomplete paperwork may not practice until after August 26th.

 

Teams with less than the required number of players with completed paperwork will not be eligible.

 

Team Eligibility:  22 players with completed paperwork except for Jr. Midgets and Midgets which must have 20 players.  Associations with more than one team in a division i.e. two Jr. PeeWee teams must have 20 players with completed paperwork.

 

Player Eligibility:  (1) Participant Registration Form is completed in full; (2) a copy of the birth certificate for the child is attached; and (3) a copy of the full-year report card for the child from the previous school year is attached showing that the child has a 2.0/70% grade point average or better, or instead, a completed Scholastic Eligibility Form is attached

 

Sun/Sat Aug 20 – 26

 

3 practices only (full pads).  Two hour maximum practice time.

Thu Aug 24

 

Final league paperwork certification for Mitey-Mite, Jr. PeeWee, and PeeWee players; and second paperwork certification for Jr. Midget and Midget players whose paperwork is complete, and whose teams certified on August 19th.

 

Deadline: Mitey-Mite, Jr. PeeWee, and PeeWee participants with insufficient paperwork on this date will be ineligible.

 

Sat Aug 26

Official league weigh-ins will be conducted at association locations.  Teams with less than the required number of paperwork approved players making weight will not be eligible.

Scheduling Committee Meeting.

Deadline for each association to submit the 2005 – Confirmation with Background Checks Affidavit to the Executive Director for those volunteers identified after July 28th.

Sept 2

 

3 practices only (full pads) – a weekend scrimmage will count as a practice.

 

SEPTEMBER:

 

 

Sat Sept  2

 

League approved scrimmages.  These are controlled scrimmages. Only teams from the Little Panthers’ league may participate.  Officials, medic, and security are required. Fees for officials, medic and security are to be paid in advance and directly to the providing agency.

 

Tue Sept 5

 

Weigh-ins for paperwork approved players on eligible teams where player was unable to attend initial weigh-in or was overweight at initial weigh-in.  There will be a $10 fee per player for this weigh-in.  Proceeds will go to the Pop Warner Little Panthers.

 

Wed Sept 6

 

Completion and distribution of the game schedule for week one.

 

Thu Sept 7

 

Checking, stamping and distribution of player I.D. cards.  It is mandatory that each association have two representatives to check and stamp cards for other associations.

 

Distribution to associations of rosters for creation of final roster on the Pop Warner national data base.

 

Sat Sept 9

 

First regular season games.

Tue Sept 12

Deadline:  Players may be added to the rosters of Jr. Midget and Midget teams.  Paperwork for these players must be complete.

Mon Sept 18

Submission of final rosters to the Executive Director on Pop Warner national data base form.

 

Deadline:  Failure to submit rosters by deadline will result in ineligibility for post season play.

 

OCTOBER

Cheerleader competition.

“Passing Progress Reports” or first quarter report cards are due for those participants on teams that are eligible for Regional competition and who were certified with the Scholastic Eligibility Form
