2006 PLAYOFF SCHEDULING
Teams and conferences eligible for playoffs and the Optimist Bowl:
All teams in the Jr. PeeWee, PeeWee, Jr. Midget and Midget age/weight divisions are eligible to participate in the playoffs and Optimist Bowl.
Only teams playing in the Jr. PeeWee Regional Conference, PeeWee Regional Conference, Midget Conference, and the Beatties Ford Jr. Midgets, Derita Jr. Midgets, Freedom Drive Jr. Midgets, Southwest Jr. Midgets, are eligible to participate in regional competition. The winners among these Regional Conference/Division teams in the Optimist Bowl will advance to the regional playoffs provided they have met all other qualification requirements imposed by Pop Warner Regional and National.
Mitey-Mites:
The regular season for Mitey-Mite teams in the Regional Conference will end on the same date as the last regular season games for other Regional Conference teams – Saturday, October 21st.
All Mitey-Mite teams in the Non-Regional Conferences will be scheduled to play on the eighth Saturday (October 28th ) against teams with a similar record. These games will end the regular season for the Mitey-Mite teams in the Non-Regional Conference.
Since the Mitey-Mite division is instructional, per Pop Warner rules, Mitey-Mite teams are not eligible for playoffs
Tie-Breaker System: In determining seeding and eligibility for the play-offs, the following tie-breaker system will be used for teams with the same record:
(1) Head to head competition, but if the teams did not play each other, or if they played twice during the season and split the games against each other, then (2) Outcome (win or loss) against their common opponent with the best record, and if still tied, then (3) Outcome (win or loss) against their next common opponent with the next best record, and so forth, if necessary, then (4) If the teams are still tied, and the tie to be broken is solely to determine seeding rather than a play-off spot, then the tie will be broken with a coin toss, or (5) If the tie to be broken is to determine a play-off spot, and only two teams are tied for that spot, there may be (depending on field availability) a play-in game between the two teams tied for the last play-off spot on the Tuesday or Wednesday night before the play-offs begin. Otherwise a coin toss will determine the playoff spot. (6) If more than two teams are tied for the last play-off spot, there will be a drawing to determine the team that will participate in the play-off or play-in game. Rainouts: All make up games must be scheduled through the league office with the Executive Director. If only some regular season games are rained out on a Saturday, an effort will be made to reschedule those games for the next day or during the week. However, if it is not possible to reschedule and play all games within a conference, any games played will not count in the standings. Playoff Saturdays will not be used for make-up games, but will be reserved for playoff games. If there are rain-outs of play-off games in the Non-Regional Conference games, and all playoff games cannot be rescheduled, the league reserves the right to determine the top seeds remaining.
